WHAT IS A TELECLASS?
A teleclass is a class which is held via a telephone conference call. No special equipment is needed - all you need is your current phone! All callers call the same telephone number, which you receive when you register for the call(s). When the class day and time arrives, you simply dial the phone number, enter the class’s access code, and you are automatically connected with the group! It’s that simple!
When you call in, the instructor will hear a beep to let them know that a new caller has joined the class. They will then ask for your name by saying something like “Hi, who just joined the call?” You can simply say your name and where you are calling from, e.g. “Hi, this is Denver from Indiana.”
When you call into a teleclass your normal long-distance charges will apply. (Contact your telephone carrier if you are uncertain as to your current rate. Also, consider purchasing a calling card to obtain lower rates.)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THIS TYPE OF LEARNING?
There are a number of benefits of learning by teleclass. First, you have no travel time or expense involved. In addition, you can attend the call from the comfort of your home (or office), with your favorite beverage, and wearing your most comfortable clothes!
Another benefit is that you can maintain a certain amount of anonymity by simply stating your first name or even using a nickname. And, of course, should you want or need to leave the class early for any reason, you simply hang up. No embarassing sneaking out the back of the room!
Teleclasses provide a simple, convenient, and engaging way to learn and interact with others - simply by using your telephone!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Teleclasses work by using what is called “telebridge technology.” By simply dialing a phone number - provided after registering - you are automatically connected to the class. The instructor/coach facilitates the call and is skilled in creating a safe and stimulating learning environment so that everyone receives maximum benefit. Once the call has completed, you simply hang up.
